Shilshole Bay IPA is a fresh and orange-citrus juicy PacNorWest Coast IPA chock-full of our favorite Yakima Valley hops and Skagit Valley malts, named after our favorite Bay just down the way from our Ballard brewery.
Beverage Specs
ABV
6.5%
Beer math on ABV is pretty straightforward. The higher the ABV, the more alcohol in the beer. See, no rocket science necessary.
IBU
46
Generally speaking, a high IBU beer will have a more bitter taste than a lower IBU beer.
OG
1.055
The OG measures solids in the wort before fermentation to consistently arrive at the same alcohol conetent of a beer. Pretty neat, huh?
STONE FRUITINESS
Shilshole Bay IPA is loaded with tons of Citra and Simcoe hops, giving it a big stone fruit and citrus aroma.
DANKY RESIN
On the back end of the aroma is a nice danky earthiness and slight hints of pine resin from the use of Mosaic & Columbus hops.
LOCAL INGREDIENTS
All of the high quality hops in Shilshole Bay IPA are from just over the hill in the Yakima Valley, and that bitterness is beautifully balanced with the use of special Skagit Valley malts.
With our new 10-barrel system up and running (and Dan, our new Brewer, at the helm) we’re excited to announce even more new BrewHouse news … the HomeGrown Ballard Series!
