For all the Treasure Hunters… Lagunitas Brewing Company Beer Speaks Logo

The dankest and hoppiest beer ever brewed by Lagunitas

This is the one. Made in honor of the origins of 420, a triple IPA, with the help of the Waldos themselves…

In 1971, the Waldos met one afternoon at 4:20 in the front courtyard of their school near the statue of Louis Pasteur. They set out in a ’66 Impala armed with a “treasure map” on a journey to find a secret garden near Point Reyes. They met there at the same time every day and continued their quest. They never found the secret garden….But they keep lookin’. So we keep brewin’ this beer every year in time for 4/20. For all the treasure hunters everywhere.

Style

Triple IPA, huh? For perspective, an IPA already expresses bold hop characteristics. Double IPA (or Imperial IPA, depending on your, like, opinion, man) is an even bigger expression of that bitter, hop intensity; not to mention alcohol content. So, a 420-Inspired Triple IPA brewed with some of Yakima’s dankest Citra and Mosaic hops? Yeah. It’s, uh, heady.

Herbacious. Botanical. Dank. Resinous. Available in Hiiiiighly limited areas in April. Word.

Beverage Specs

ABV

11.7%

Beer math on ABV (Alcohol By Volume) is pretty straightforward… the Higher the ABV, the more alcohol in the beer. No rocket science necessary.

IBU

100+

Generally speaking, a high IBU beer will have a more bitter taste than a lower IBU beer.

OG

1.107

The OG measures solids in the wort before fermentation to consistently arrive at the same alcohol content of a beer. Pretty neat, huh?

Dank Dankness

Using the most sulfurous hops around, it’s as close to smokin’ as you can get while drinking a beer

Citrus

Balancing the dank, taking cue from our Highly-balanced IPA, we layer orange & grapefruit notes via hops, making it way too drinkable for the über-High ABV

Ponderosa Pine

Oddly specific, yes, but if you know anything about the wonderous ponderosa pine, you know it doesn’t smell like generic pine. Once you get up in on the tree, you’ll notice the sap smells like vanilla … mmm, vanilla pine.

    Willettized

Our friends over at Kentucky’s own Willett Distillery have one kind of barrel: wood. And they put two things in them: Bourbon and Rye. We were fortunate enough to get some of their Bourbon barrels, and we put a special coffee-fied version of our Imperial Stout in them.

  • Lagunitas Brewing Company IPA 12oz bottle sideways

    IPA

A well-rounded, Highly drinkable India Pale Ale. A bit of Caramel Malt barley provides the richness that mellows out the twang of the hops, including Cascade, Centennial, Chinook and a splash of honorary “C” hop, Simcoe. Best enjoyed from mustache.
